How to reset a Birdfy camera.
Choose the right action: a reboot, a new Wi-Fi pairing or a factory reset.
The quick answer
Begin with a reboot. The small reboot hole is not a reason to apply a universal long-press factory-reset instruction. Identify your camera and use its manual before erasing settings.
Applies to Birdfy feeder cameras with a documented reboot hole or reboot button. Button positions and factory-reset instructions vary by model.
Choose the action before pressing a button
People use “reset” for several different jobs. Keep them separate when describing your problem.
- Reboot
- Restart the camera when it stops responding or the stream freezes.
- Pair with Wi-Fi
- Follow the setup flow when connecting to a network. This is a separate step from restarting.
- Factory reset
- Restore the device's defaults, then set it up again. Birdfy describes this as clearing settings and pairing information.
Before a factory reset, download important clips you can still access and record your current settings. Do not remove a working device from your account merely to test whether restarting helps.

Reboot a camera with the documented controls
- Confirm the model and locate the reboot hole or reboot button using its manual. Do not probe an unidentified opening.
- Disconnect the solar panel or external charging cable.
- Use the supplied ejector pin on the documented reboot hole. On models with a reboot button, the help center specifies a one-second press.
- Hold the power button for three seconds to turn the camera back on.
- Check the camera in the app before making another change.
These are the manufacturer's general feeder-camera restart steps. If your controls differ, use the instructions for that exact product instead.

Reconnect when the Wi-Fi has changed
Have the intended network name and password ready, then open our Birdfy Wi-Fi guide. Choose the exact device in Add Device rather than a similar-looking feeder.
The Feeder 2 Series instructions use a three-second power-on press followed by a double press for pairing mode. The app then shows a QR code for the camera to scan. Rebooting alone does not complete this setup process.

When a factory reset is appropriate
If a reboot and the correct pairing flow fail, compare the camera's controls with the official reset guide and its product manual. Use a factory reset only when the documented procedure matches your model and you are prepared to configure it again.
Birdfy's general reset article and product help pages describe different controls and scopes. For that reason, this guide does not prescribe one long-press duration for every Birdfy. If you cannot identify the control, ask official support to confirm the reset procedure for your model before continuing.

Check what changed
After the camera returns, open live view and note whether it works close to the router and at the feeder location. Restore any preferences you intentionally changed, then check a later recording separately.
If the device remains unresponsive, collect the model, firmware version if visible, light sequence, exact action performed and the last successful connection. Use the official help center with that record. A charging failure needs the power checks, rather than repeated resets.
